In tiefem Gedenken an den vor 13.000 Jahren ausgestorbenen Pflanzenfresser improvisiert sich das urzeitliche Trio durch hohes Gras und weite Steppen. Seit ihrer Open-Air-Bandgründung auf dem Moers Festival 2023 überleben Schlagzeuger Simon Camatta, E-Gitarristin Raissa Mehner und Vibrafonistin Salome Amend nur knapp, mit Hilfe von Elektronik und pliozänem Klimbim. Aus dem Dickicht auftauchende Themenköpfe und wildwüchsige Eigenkompositionen zwingen sie, sichere Trampelpfade zu verlassen. Toxodons kurze, aber muskulöse Beine endeten nicht ohne Grund dreizehig, sodass es uns noch heute gern als an-den-borstigen-Haaren-herbeigezogene Analogie zur Seite steht: Drei Zehen, drei Silben, drei MusikerInnen aus drei Städten verbinden Ruhrgebiet, Rheinland und Bergisches Land und schaffen einen tollkühnen Wust aus halb-aquatischen Klangsphären und schroffen Independent Felsen.

Toxodon lives!
In deep remembrance of the herbivore that died out 13,000 years ago, the primeval trio improvises its way through tall grass and vast steppes. Since founding their open-air band at the Moers Festival in 2023, drummer Simon Camatta, electric guitarist Raissa Mehner, and vibraphone player Salome Amend have barely survived with the help of electronics and Pliocene odds and ends. Themes emerging from the thicket and wildly growing original compositions force them to leave the safety of the beaten path. Toxodon’s short but muscular legs ended in three toes for a reason, so that even today it still serves as a far-fetched analogy: Three toes, three syllables, three musicians from three cities connect the Ruhr area, the Rhineland, and the Bergisches Land, creating a daring jumble of semi-aquatic soundscapes and rugged independent rocks.


The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8.00 pm CET - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CET.
Exceptions during wintertime - eg on Sundays - are possible.
